Abstrakt
Tribological phenomena are decisive for refrigerant compressors since they significantly affect their wear and reliability, energy and volumetric efficiency, acoustics, and many other performance parameters. However, tribological improvement measures and related R&D projects have great potential and need. First, there are still crucial uncertainties about compressors' tribological processes and degradation phenomena. Second, regulatory requirements are increasing. Third, further improvement approaches and advanced tribological technologies that have not yet been used or considered in compressors offer considerable potential for improvement. This contribution provides a concise overview of the current research and development on tribology in refrigerant compressors for residential heat pumps. In addition, it shows the need and opportunities for action in this field and presents related activities at TU Dresden.
